As Sona Jobarteh's debut soundtrack to the multi-award winning film "Motherland" directed by Owen 'Alik Shahadah. Motherland score is an innovative exploration into the cinematic representation of a Classical African sound world. Whilst much of the score draws primarily on the West African Griot tradition, it also reinvents it in a new, innovarive way to accommodate the visual realm.

Sona Jobarteh featured as a Kora player and a Composer on this seminal classical debut album by Tunde Jegede. 'Lamentation' was voted album of the year by Wire magazine, chosen by opera diva Maria Ewing as one of her Desert Island discs, and has very successfully found its way to a worldwide audience.
MALIAN ROYAL COURT MUSIC | TUNDE JEGEDE
This album was the first of its kind, marking the establishment of a new concept - African Classical Music. It has been hailed by many critics as a masterpiece within the idiom of African Classical Music. Featuring Sona Jobarteh earliest piece 'Fountain of People's Hope' which she composed at the age of six. It was arranged by Tunde Jegede for this album, featuring two Koras and Flute.

The soundtrack to the multi-award winning, groundbreaking, widely acclaimed documentary film '500 Years Later' which charts the history and impact of slavery on the African peoples in the diapora. Sona Jobarteh for the first time moves into the sphere of film-music and works with fellow songwriter Owen 'Alik Shahadah to produce the reflective, timeless track 'If I', as well as her collaborative piece 'Life Saver' with HKB FiNN.

It features an acoustic collection of heavy bass grooves, experimental jazz, world music and soulful Hip Hop elements. Sona Jobarteh contributed her skills as a producer.
